Pony Club Secrets/Pony Club Rivals - Stacy Gregg

Stacy Gregg completely understands the desperation of wannabe horsey girls who want a pony of their own.  Stacy grew up training her bewildered dog to showjump in the backyard until her parents gave in to her desperate pleas and finally let her have a pony.  Stacy's ponies and her experiences at her local pony club are the inspiration for her Pony Club Secrets books.  This popular, modern series for junior/intermediate readers blends authentic horse and pony details with a mixture of mystery, adventure and non-stop action.  It is set in a fictionalised version of New Zealand at the Chevalier Point Pony Club.  Originally there were 4 titles scheduled for the series but due to its popularity this was extended to 8 and then 13. 

 A spin-off series - Pony Club Rivals hit the book shelves in 2009.  The catalyst for this series is the years Stacy spent at boarding school.  These books feature a new main character, Georgie Parker, and are set at a special boarding school in the USA which promising young riders can attend for both schooling and riding lessons.  To date there are 3 titles in the series with more expected.

So if you love horses look out for Stacy's books.  All the titles in the Pony Club Secrets series are available in the fiction section of our Library and Yellow Spot readers will find the Pony Club Rivals books on their shelves.

You may be interested to know that in a previous life Stacy was a high profile fashion editor and included among her credits is being Editor-at-Large for Fashion Quarterly magazine.  She says she has no regrets about trading in her high heels for a life in gumboots!  She currently lives in Auckland with her partner, their daughter and various assorted animals.  Each time a Pony Club Secrets book is published a donation is made to the charity Horse Welfare of which Stacy is a Board Member.
